Cougs lose 43-28 in game they could have won

The WSU Cougars bought their mojo to Oregon after a poorly prepared & played game against Oregon. While losing 43-28, the Cougs had their chances win and played Oregon well. Oregon on the other hand, looked like they were looking past the Cougs and played poorly while the Cougs had the ball most of the game. Coug fans were left wondering why these Cougs did not show up for the OSU game. The Cougs 1-4, 3-5 now travel to Cal with hopes of beating the 4-4 Bears to put their long-shot bowl game plans back on track.

WSU Cougars Lose Big 21-44 to OSU

The Washington State Cougars lost big in Seattle 21-44 to the Oregon State Beavers. The Cougars looked completed unprepared for OSU as over 50,000 fans watched them collapse as they were outplayed in all aspects of the game. The Cougs now 1-3, 3-4 overall now find themselves in the last place PAC-12 North after a very promising start. They also find head Coach Paul Wulff & Defense Coach Chris Ball on the hot seat with fans and Alumni calling for their removal after such a poor performance in a game that they were favored to win by +2/3 points.

After losing 3 conference games in a row the Cougs will have to regroup with a road trip to Oregon which is no easy place to win. It appears they may be without starting quarterback Jeff Tuel as he re-injured his shoulder as his pass protection broke down in the first half of the game. Tuel was 11-of-13 for 127 yards & led two scoring drives prior to his injury Back-up QB Marshall Lobbestael then went 10-of-20, 105 yards and one interception after OSU put the game away with 3 TD’s in the 3rd QTR alone. The WSU running game was not much help either. RB Carl Winston carried the ball for 41 yards on 12 carries, including a 2-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter.

The biggest problem of all for the Cougs was simply their defensive effort. WSU barely had pass rush & their secondary was beat on almost every pass play. OSU QB Sean Mannion completed 26 of 34 passes for 376 yards & 4 touchdowns making him look something like Andrew Luck. Both WSU’s offensive and defensive lines was run over dominated up front. The Cougs had better improve quick because these numbers while impressive for OSU are nothing compared to what the Ducks can potentially put up. Vegas has Oregon favored by 35 points so the Cougs will have to come up with some answers this week in practice.

Cougs Fall To Stanford 44-14 After Good First Half

The WSU Cougars playing in front of a upset eager homecoming crowd at Martin Stadium after 3 road games lost 44-14 after a very promising first half. The Cougs started QB Jeff Tuel in the game although he looked a little rusty the Cougs hung in there with Stanford largely due to a good defensive effort. WSU entered the halftime trailing Stanford 7-10.

In the second half, Stanford cranked up their offensive and defensive effort & played like a Top 10 team. The Cougs had no answer for Stanford’s offensive who had their way with the Coug on a variety of offensive scores.  Head Coach Paul Wulff said Stanford simply wore our guys down. The only positives to the game were the first half defensive effort and the fact that Jeff Tuel was able get to some playing time in as the Cougars prepare for a must-win game against OSU this weekend if the Cougars hope to have a chance for a bowl game this year. The Cougars now 1-2 PAC12 & 2-2 overall must rally against a banged up OSU at Centry Link in Seattle.
