The WSU Cougars playing in front of a upset eager homecoming crowd at Martin Stadium after 3 road games lost 44-14 after a very promising first half. The Cougs started QB Jeff Tuel in the game although he looked a little rusty the Cougs hung in there with Stanford largely due to a good defensive effort. WSU entered the halftime trailing Stanford 7-10.
In the second half, Stanford cranked up their offensive and defensive effort
& played like a Top 10 team. The Cougs had no answer for Stanford’s offensive who had their way with the Coug on a variety of offensive scores. Head Coach Paul Wulff said Stanford simply wore our guys down. The only positives to the game were the first half defensive effort and the fact that Jeff Tuel was able get to some playing time in as the Cougars prepare for a must-win game against OSU this weekend if the Cougars hope to have a chance for a bowl game this year. The Cougars now 1-2 PAC12 & 2-2 overall must rally against a banged up OSU at Centry Link in Seattle.
