WSU QB Connor Halliday teamed up with his posse of receivers and threw for 383 yards and five touchdowns showcasing Coach Leach’s high-octane Air-Raid in front of the celebrating Cougar Fans. While there was not really any question that the Cougs would win this game, it was the first time both offense and defense finally played well in a game in the Mike Leach era.
The WSU defense, not content to sit on the sidelines and watch the Cougar offensive show, joined the party with 3 interceptions and a sack of Southern Utah QB Cantu in the game. One of the most thrilling for fans was Damante Horton’s 73 yard TD run putting the cougs up 28-10 at the half. With the party started both inside and outside the stadium, the Cougs never looked back.
The Cougar Defense held Utah scoreless in the second half. At the same time, the WSU offensive continued to roll with Furney kicking in a pair of Field Goals and Halliday hitting Gabe Marks and Vince Mayle for TD’s in the 3rd and 4th quarters to beat Southern Utah 48-10.
