WSU Cougars Sweep the Huskies in Seattle

WAAAAAZZZZZU! The WSU Men’s basketball team won big tonight by beating the Huskies, 80 -69, in Seattle. With a second season win and a sweep of UW, the Cougars once again have bragging rights to fly their flag over Seattle.

WSU and UW started off slowly with both teams playing tight in the first 10 minutes of the game.  The Cougs slowly started to pull away with a 11-2 run to close the half at 24-17. In second half of the game, Klay Thompson & the Cougs really lit up the scoreboard. At one point, the Cougars were up by 21 points before the Huskies make a final run at 7 minute mark. After the Huskies closed to within 7 points, the Cougs put the game away on a key turnover and big shot by DeAngelo Casto. Great free-throw shooting by WSU after several fouls allowed the Cougs to extend their lead and easily close out the game 80-69.

WSU Coach Bone deserves credit for putting together a great game plan against UW. The Huskies could not find an answer to the Cougs switching defenses & were left shooting outside shots most of the night. Kay Thompson had another nice game scoring 26 points after a little bit of a slow start. Casto looked fantastic down low adding 20 points,  13 boards, in another “string” of good games. Of course, all this was set up by Reggie Moore, 10 Points, who did another masterful job at point. This was however a great team effort with all the players contributing in this sweet win. Marcus Capers, looked good, playing some great defense on the Huskies & Isaiah Thomas. Brock Motum, added 8 points, and Abe Lodwick, also played big on D in the paint.

Overall, it was a great game for fans to watch and a big confidence building win as the Cougars head down the final season stretch. If the Cougars can play like this in the Pac 10 Tournament, they could make a serious run.  Great Win! Nice Sweep!

Go Cougs!
